The shorelines of rivers and lakes throughout the Kawartha, Haliburton and Bancroft areas are some of the most developed in Ontario. Residential development pressures and the impact of some urban landscaping practices are placing mounting pressures on fragile littoral zones and water quality. Shoreline property owners and other lake users are concerned about their impacts on the surrounding natural environment and are seeking tools that will enable them to protect and enhance their aquatic resources.
The Lakeland Alliance provides hands-on expertise along with educational opportunities and materials to assist shoreline property owners in their lake stewardship efforts.
